Ey Up Mi Duck Race 2017
Saturday 20th May at Cathedral Green, Derby
11am to 3pm
Sight Support Derbyshire's biggest annual fundraising event returned to the centre of Derby on Saturday 20th May.
In the usual spirit of the event, it was good weather for ducks. But the showers didn't deter hundreds of people from enjoying a day of family fun at Cathedral Green, and lining the Millennium footbridge to watch the race. Or rather, watch the races.
This year we had an unprecedented two races because of the weather conditions. First up were the 126 giant decorated plastic ducks, whose race went backwards because the wind blew them all upstream! The little ducks behaved themselves better and went in the right direction. Thank you to the team at Watersafe UK Search and Rescue who had their work cut out on the day!
Thank you to everyone who supported the race. We raised over £5,200 towards our services for local blind and partially sighted children and adults!
Did you enter a giant or large duck in the race? Read your name on our roll call here.
And the winners were:
First little duck
The winning duck belonged to J. Beattie, with raffle ticket number 36507 / duck no. 1522. The prize was £250 cash donated by Smith Partnership.
Best Dressed Duck: Tricia Nolan from Richmond Villages, Aston-on-Trent, who won Dinner, Bed and Breakfast for two at the Cathedral Quarter Hotel, Derby.
Children's Ducks (children up to 12)
Thank you to our race supporters:
