Finding Your Feet
Sight Support Derbyshire and the Royal National Institute of Blind People are joining together to offer a two day support programme called Finding Your Feet. Niall McMurtry, Programme Organiser, who is himself registered blind said:
"This programme will help anyone with sight loss who feels they would like to take positive steps forward in their life. Sight loss can bring significant challenges, not only for the individual affected but also for partners and family members. There are, however, solutions to many difficulties - most things are possible. Yes, we want to cope, but this programme is about more than that - it helps us work through what is important in our lives and how to achieve the best quality of life. Finding Your Feet can be a real confidence booster and inspire us to strive for a brighter future"
On this two day programme support is given to both people with sight loss and their companions who have a caring role – the event will help increase knowledge and confidence. Sessions covering a range of topics will be
delivered in a relaxed and supportive atmosphere. Here are some things people have said about Finding your feet:

The Finding Your Feet event takes place at the Hallmark Hotel in Derby on Saturday 8 - Sunday 9 October 2011. It is free to attend. Hotel accommodation can be offered at a heavily subsidised rate.
