'Clinical service of the year' is an award for medical staff, teams or service which provide diagnosis or treatment for macular disease and which demonstrate exceptionally good practice in the care of people with central vision loss.
This is the second year in a row that Mr Puri has been nominated for the award , with patients keen to express their gratiude for the care provided.
Mr Puri consultant ophthalmologist said ' I am delighted that my team at the Royal Derby Hospital have been nominated again by our patients for this award. We work extremely hard to ensure our patients receive the best care and it is particularly humbling to have been nominated by them".
Mr Puri has worked at Royal Derby for 9 years. The Eye Clinic have 1900 patients with the oldest patient being 94. Mr Puri believes it is the personal touch that makes his department special. Mr Puri says every member of staff provides an approachable and personal service .
The nomination will now be handed over to the Judges who will decide on the overall winners and present them with their awards at the Macular Societys annual London conference on the 28th September.
