What is #NiftyShades?
#NiftyShades is a social media campaign to raise awareness of protecting your eyes in bright sunshine, while raising money for our services to help local blind and visually impaired people stay independent.
How does it work?
It's easy - and it's fun! Simply take a selfie wearing your sunglasses and post it on social media. Invite 5 friends to do the same! Share it with us on Twitter @SightSupDerbys or on Facebook by searching for our page - Sight Support Derbyshire SSD. Text SSDD105 to 70070 to donate £5, or SSDD1010 to 70070 donate £10 to Sight Support Derbyshire.

Why is wearing sunglasses so important?
- Wearing sunglasses in bright sunshine helps prevent harmful UV damage to your eyes.
- Studies suggest sunlight exposure is a risk factor for cataracts (source: NHS).
- Make sure your sunglasses carry the CE mark
- Never, ever look directly at the sun, even during a solar eclipse.
