Oviso Financial Services, Derby's only high street mortgage and independent financial services company, has adopted Sight Support Derbyshire as its annual charity and is off to a flying start with its fundraising campaign.
Oviso, which is based on Queen Street in the city, has pledged to raise £2,500 for the charity over the next 12 months.
General insurance manager, Clare Fullaway, took to the skies to kick-start the fundraising appeal with a 12,000 ft sponsored sky dive. Her efforts have already raised £415 for the charity.
This comes after Clare's colleague, Lee Mortimer, took part in Sight Support Derbyshire's annual abseil from the top of Jury's Inn Hotel, raising more than £460.
Established in 1914, Sight Support Derbyshire has been serving the visually impaired community in Derbyshire for 95 years and provides blind and partially sighted people with the essential support and services they need to help them become independent.
The charity provides education about visual impairment and operates a variety of services including a help-line, information days, support groups and other activities.
Commenting on the fundraising campaign for Sight Support Derby, Sarah Fullaway, director at Oviso said:
"We are delighted to be supporting Sight Support Derbyshire, and are very impressed with the excellent work they do to help people in our local communities.
Clare Fullaway added:
"Jumping out of a plane is easy compared to the challenges that many blind and partially sighted people in Derbyshire face on a daily basis and I am thrilled to have been able to help raise money for Sight Support Derbyshire."
