Play golf against Derbys goal scorer Jamie Ward

The last few remaining places are available to take on Derby County players at Golf at the Morley Hayes on the 28th September with the winning team receiving 2 tickets each to a Derby County home match.

Sight Support Derbyshire and Derby County Football Club have teamed up to present the first ever Super Rams Charity Trophy which will see golfers from across the county compete against four players of the current Derby County first team. The event will be raising money for Derbyshire’s only sight loss charity and our partnership with Derby County aims to raise over £25,000 this season to support blind and partially sighted people in the county.

Jamie Ward , one of Derbys goal scorers against Nottingham Forest, is one of the Derby County players taking part and says ‘ The true worth of good eyesight is often taken for granted, but is seldom more beneficial than when playing football, or on a golf course. Having taken penalties blindfolded it has given me a real insight into the day to day life of blind and partially sighted people and we're excited to be able to raise some money on the golf course to do our bit. The lads can't wait to take on teams from across the county at Morley Hayes and show them we're the best around".

This is a unique opportunity and your chance to show Derby County Football players who is best on the golf course whilst raising money for Sight Support Derbyshire at the same time.

Martin Wilson, trustee and the captain of the Sight Support Derbyshire team, said “My team can’t wait to show these footballers how golf is really played. We’re expecting to thrash them and to take the Trophy back to our head office in Derby and put it in pride of place.

“Derby County have been a great supporter of our work and this is a great opportunity for people to get involved, play some golf at a fantastic course and compete for the honour of being the very first winners of the Super Rams Charity Trophy.”

The inaugural Super Rams Charity Trophy will be given to the winning team in an 18 Hole Am:Am Stableford Competition at the magnificent Morley Hayes golf course. The event takes place at Morley Hayes Golf Club on Wednesday 28 September 2011. Teams of four can enter for just £100 and all monies raised will be used to support blind and partially sighted people locally in Derbyshire. If you want to take part in the event and don’t have 4 players please phone us and we will see if we can join some groups together.
