Rehabilitation

Rehabilitation

Living with sight loss doesn't need to hold you back from doing the things you want to do, but you may need to learn to do things in a different way.

Sight Support Derbyshire's Rehabilitation team will train you in the skills you need to stay independent, including using new equipment like a cane.

Our service is free and available to people living in the Derbyshire County Council area. You do not need to be registered as severely sight impaired or sight impaired.

We will visit you at home for a personal assessment, focusing on what you can do and what you want to achieve.

We can support you with:

Mobility - Helping you move safely and independently around your home and outdoors.

Independent living - Helping you manage household tasks safely and with confidence, from bathing and dressing to keeping your home clean, and preparing drinks and meals.

Communication - Training in the use of Braille, making the most of telephone calls and using your computer.

Low vision - Training in the use of aids and equipment to help you make the best use of your vision, such as lighting or magnifiers.

Social and leisure - Helping you carry on doing the things you enjoy, like meeting friends, reading books, or completing crosswords.

If you have significant, diagnosed permanent sight problem and you're struggling with daily tasks, contact us now on 01332 292262 or email enquiries@sightsupportderbyshire.org.uk
