Rehabilitation

Living with sight loss doesn’t need to hold you back from doing the things you want to do, but you may need to learn to do things in a different way. Sight Support Derbyshire’s qualified Rehabilitation Workers are here to help you to live independently.
Working closely with Derbyshire County Council Social Services, a qualified Rehabilitation Worker can visit your home and offer you a personal assessment. We will focus on what you can do, what you want to achieve and how we can help you to live as you wish.
We can support you with:
- Orientation and mobility – We can help you to move safely and independently around your home and outdoors.
- Independent living – We can help you to manage household tasks safely and with confidence; from bathing and dressing to keeping your home clean, food and drink preparation, and managing your own finances.
- Communication – We can help you to regain control of your own letters, telephone calls and face to face conversations.
- Low vision – We can help you to use aids and equipment that will enable you to make best use of your available vision.
- Social and leisure – We can help you to continue with your valued pastimes, from meeting friends to completing crosswords and reading books.
