Run For Us
Run for us – Summer 2011
This summer we are looking for people who want a challenge in the summer sun and help to raise money at the same time. Whether you want to improve your fitness, raise a little money or take on a challenge of a lifetime, Sight Support Derbyshire has the running event to suit your needs. Sight Support Derbyshire Chief Executive Ges Roulstone says ‘there are some fantastic running events and challenges over the summer months which can be run for free by committing to raise sponsorship for Sight Support Derbyshire’.
First up is the Water Wipeout in Nottingham on the 18th June run by the aaa-challenge for people who are looking to test themselves physically and mentally – a 10k trail run with 24 obstacles and challenges designed to take you out of your comfort zone!!!
There are then a number of events – running in beautiful locations in the summer months. The Burton 10k takes place on the 7th August. The Big Fun Run in Derby on the 20th August. The Chesterfield Spire 10m on the 28th August. A beautiful 10k run around Belvoir Castle on the 3rd September. The Ashbourne half marathon on the 11th September. A choice of a half or full marathon in Nottingham on the 11th September with the Sheffield 10k on the 30th October.
Anyone who wants to push themselves harder should look at the aaa-challenge Wild Thing Event at Brailsford on the 25th September. The trail includes a swamp of doom, giant walls, cargo nets, tunnels of terror, quick sand, mud slides, hurdles and much more.
We have limited places to take part in various events in the coming months and are accepting applications now. Sight Support Derbyshire will pay for anybody’s entrance fee who agrees to raise sponsorship for the charity in return, meaning that you can participate for free.
