Sight Support Derbyshire's New Sparring Partner
Sight Support Derbyshire, the Derby-based charity that helps support those with visual impairment, has teamed up with Derby’s One Nation Health Studio to help raise funds at a series of white collar boxing events that will take place throughout 2012.
Clive Fearon, a former professional boxer, who runs One Nation in Derby has already organised a number of successful white collar events for charity, but he was looking to develop longer-term links with a local charity.
Following recent meetings with Robin Toal, the charity’s fund-raising manager, it has been agreed that Sight Support Derbyshire will be the sole beneficiary of all next year’s white collar boxing events, as Fearon explains: “My father lost his sight to diabetes and so this charity is very close to my heart. If we can help those in Derby and across the county who has limited or no vision then I will be delighted to be able to put something back to this very worthwhile cause.”
The first of the charity events will take place on Saturday 11 February 2012, although Fearon is still looking for volunteers to have a go in the ring. Anyone interested in having a go in the ring to help raise essential funds should get in touch with Fearon.
Robin Toal, the charity’s fund-raising manager is looking forward to the event: “We’re delighted to have had this approach from One Nation and very much look forward to working with Clive and his team throughout 2012.”
Tickets for the event are on sale at £50.00 per person for a 4-course dinner, boxing, charity auction and after show party; tickets for boxing only are priced at £25.00. Tables of ten are available at £450.00 and corporate sponsorship opportunities will be announced in due course.
