Sports and Leisure

Sight Support Derbyshire recognizes that your wellbeing does not just mean practical support. In addition we offer a wide range of leisure activities which aim to increase confidence, open up new opportunities to socialize with others and to keep fit.
Run by our enthusiastic team of staff and volunteers, we provide a wide range of activities which enable you to continue an existing leisure interest whilst also giving you the opportunity to try out new experiences.
We are looking for new people to join in with our existing groups and to try new things. Get in touch to find out more.
Activities in South Derbyshire
Join in with our sports and leisure groups:
- Pottery
- Bowls
- Ten-Pin Bowling
- Swimming
- Tandem bike riding
- Regular Day trips
Coming soon are archery, sailing, horse riding and line dancing.
Join in with our social meetings:
Derby - 1st and 3rd Friday of the month.
Duffield - 3rd Monday of the month
Matlock - Every other Tuesday
Ilkeston - Every Tuesday
Activities in North Derbyshire
Supported by the Big Lottery, our Bolsover Project offers a wide variety of social and physical activities from South Normanton to Creswell.
Our regular activities include:
Bolsover Social Group -1st Wednesday
Shirebrook Social Group -2nd Wednesday
Creswell Chairobics -3rd Wednesday
South Normanton Bowling -3rd Wednesday
South Normanton Social -last Wednesday
Chesterfield Spire Group -last Tuesday
Other groups include the Dipa-daba-do group where we dip in and out of different activities and members choose what we do and where we go each week. This is your opportunity to try something new or to rekindle an old interest. There are also regular outings to film and theatre via our ‘Curtain-Up’ Club.
Who can use the service?
Visually impaired people over the age 18 who live in Derbyshire.

If you have any suggestions for new sports and leisure activities we can help you to get started. If there is no activity in your area we can signpost you to other groups and organizations.
